Praising God for an accident?
It was approximately 6 P.M. on Monday, February 20, 2023, when the news of Freddie’s terrible hit-and-run car accident hit the family group chat. Everyone was in shock because it was only a couple of weeks ago that he encountered another hit-and-run that totaled his vehicle.
This accident was a bit different – he was hit by another car, was thrown out of his vehicle, fractured several bones, and had to be rushed to a trauma center.
Nevertheless, we praise God. We thank God!
Why are we thanking God? The Bible says, "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
If Freddie did not experience such a terrible accident, we would not have discovered that he had an aneurysm in his pelvic area. He has been in pain for several years, but was treating the pain with his own home remedies.
Despite the fractures, they were able to perform emergency surgery. Praise the Lord, Freddie is now in rehab and on the road to recovery. Learning to give thanks in all situations is one thing that my entire family has taken away from this incident.
What is special about this situation? There are eleven of us and we are orphans. If God did not intervene, we would have lost one of our siblings. We were shocked by the accident, but grateful that it allowed the doctors to find Freddie’s aneurysm before it was fatal.
“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” (Romans 8:28). Thank God for His unfailing love towards us, even when we are not always faithful to Him.
