God still answers prayers!
I was one of those people who thought I would retire and still have student loans, until I received a letter in the mail stating that my student loans have been forgiven!
Going back to school at age 44, I incurred loans for two degrees and had parent-plus loans for two of my children. I eventually consolidated all the bills and was appalled when I noticed that my loans were $340,000.00 with over $400,000.00 in interest.
Initially, my loans weighed heavily on me. It was time for prayer because I couldn’t fathom how I would repay that exorbitant sum. I started praying and believing in God for a miracle. I also added my loans to my list of yearly goals and kept carrying them over to the following years.
While at church during COVID-19 in 2021, it was prayer time, and we were asked to name our prayer request. I told the sister who prayed with me about my student loan burden. She prayed for me, and when she was finished, she said, "Sister F., God’s got this." I believe it was from that day on that I stopped worrying about my student loans.
During the first week of January 2023, I received a letter that basically said all my school loans were forgiven. In my mind, I began seeing the word "SCAM" all over the letter, so I texted it to my daughter and asked if it looked genuine. She responded: "Did you pray about it?" “LOL! You better believe it."
I thought to myself that she had just lost her mind. I placed the letter in a box with some old bills and forgot about it. Two weeks later, my son called me: "Mom, why aren’t you celebrating and giving God praise?"
“What are you talking about?” I asked. He mentioned that his sister told him that our school loans had been forgiven. I responded, "It is a scam! Don’t bother with her." My son asked me to get the letter and read it for him. It sounded like we reversed the parent-child roles. I wasn’t even finished reading the first paragraph when he started shouting: "That’s it! That’s it! God, you are awesome! OMG . . . "
When he realized I was silent, he said, "So you still don’t believe it? Then sign into your online account. It should have a zero balance." Viewing my account, I read these words: "Your account is in good standing!"
Balance: $0.00
I literally felt as if I were floating, as if a heavy burden had been lifted—that was because God stepped in and cancelled my loans of $340,000.00 plus interest of over $400,000.00! It is real! God did it! My two degrees, as well as loans for my two children, have all been forgiven! God be praised!
